Privacy Policy

1. Data Controller

Be My Guest ("we", "our", "us") is operated by Hilal Eğitim Teknolojileri Limited Şirketi, a company registered in Türkiye, which provides the Be My Guest mobile application and the website at bemyguestapp.net. We are the data controller responsible for your personal data.

2. Data We Collect

  • Account information: name, username, email address, date of birth, gender
  • Profile information: profile photo, city, profession, university, spoken languages, interests
  • Usage data: events joined/hosted, messages sent, interactions within the app
  • Device information: device type, OS version, IP address
  • Location data: precise (GPS) location, detected when you open the app. We store only your single most recent location (no location history is kept), used to sort and show the nearest venues and events on the Home, Events, and Venues screens, and as a fallback when a live GPS reading is temporarily unavailable.
  • Check-in location: when you check in to an event you have joined, we record your GPS position at that moment to confirm you are at the agreed meeting point. This record is tied to that specific event for safety and reliability purposes.
  • Biometric data: during identity verification, we use automated facial analysis (a liveness check and a comparison against your profile photo) to confirm you are a real person and prevent fraudulent accounts. This processing is based on your explicit consent, given at the verification step, and the underlying photos may be retained as required by applicable law.
  • Voice messages and media: when you record a voice message or capture a photo or video in a chat, the app requests access to your microphone and camera. Access is used only while you are actively recording; we do not access your microphone or camera in the background. Recorded content is stored as part of the conversation and is deleted together with the chat or your account.
  • Purchase data: when you buy credits/tokens within the app, the transaction is processed by Google Play's billing system. We receive confirmation of the purchase (product purchased, date, amount, and your credit balance) but we do not receive or store your payment card or bank account details — these are handled entirely by Google Play.

3. Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in on the signed-in areas of our website. We do not use tracking, analytics or advertising cookies. The mobile app does not use cookies at all. See our Cookie Policy for details.

4. How We Use Your Data

  • To provide and operate the Be My Guest service
  • To match guests and hosts based on interests and preferences
  • To verify user identity and maintain platform safety
  • To send service-related notifications and updates
  • To improve the application and user experience

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with trusted service providers (hosting, analytics, identity verification) only as necessary to operate the platform. All providers are contractually bound to protect your data. Purchases made within the app are processed by Google Play Billing; Google's own privacy policy governs the handling of your payment information, which we never see or store.

6. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account and all associated personal data at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account), via the account deletion page at bemyguestapp.net/delete-account, or by contacting us at info@bemyguestapp.net. When you confirm a deletion request, your account is scheduled for permanent deletion after a 30-day grace period — logging in during this period cancels the request. Once the period ends, your personal information is erased or anonymized; a minimal record may be kept where necessary for safety, fraud prevention, or legal obligations.

8. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords, and access controls. No system is completely secure; we encourage you to use a strong, unique password.

On mobile, your session credentials are stored in the operating system's secure storage — the Keychain on iOS and Keystore-backed encrypted storage on Android. They are never written to plain-text app storage and cannot be read by other applications.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via the app or email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.

10. Governing Text

This policy is published in Turkish and English. In the event of any discrepancy between the two versions, the Turkish text shall prevail.
